Law enforcers in Atlantic City apprehended teens following as cars were robbed at Bally's parking garage.

Three 14-year-olds have been arrested and are set to face court after a series of Kias were burgled in the parking garage at Bally's Atlantic City on a Thursday.

Two of the juveniles broke into and stole from vehicles at the 1900 Pacific Ave. parking facility, according to police Reports show that they couldn't steal the cars, but they managed to damage the steering columns.

One of the teenagers was in possession of a USB cable while the other had a screwdriver when they were snapped up by Atlantic City cops. USB cables are popular among thieves for stealing Kias and Hyundais, while screwdrivers can help them turn on vehicle ignitions and break steering columns.

The police tracked the boys down walking in the Connecticut and Wabash Avenues area in Atlantic City over the weekend. Atlantic City detectives Chris Dodson, Alberto Valles, Eric Evans, and Troy Grams intercepted the boys and arrested them during their chase.

Criminal Charges

The two teens faced charges of three counts each of burglary and criminal mischief. They were also charged with possession of burglary tools.

The two were put in the custody of their parents and are due to appear in a local court.

Another teenager, who was found with stolen credit cards, was also arrested. He was charged with receiving stolen property and was requested to show up in local court. The credit cards had been taken from a car, police revealed.

The arrests were announced by the Atlantic City Police Department on a Wednesday.

The suspects' identities were not disclosed because of their ages.

Providing Steering Wheel Locks

To combat these car break-ins and others, the Atlantic City Police Department announced that it will be giving out free steering wheel locks to Kia and Hyundai owners in the area.

The distribution is part of a wider attempt to curb car thefts of Kia and Hyundai vehicles, particularly among younger people.

In a statement, the force expressed concern about the growing numbers of teens stealing Kias and Hyundais, saying, "These vehicles remain the most popular cars and SUVs for car thieves."

To get the steering wheel locks, you need your car or a copy of your car registration and driver's license. You can show these at the Clayton G. Graham Public Safety Building at 2715 Atlantic Ave., Atlantic City.

On weekdays between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m., local police will provide free locks to Hyundai and Kia owners. The scheme is ongoing for all owners of these car brands. Visit https://t.co/oyjgmpHEnK or https://t.co/XgEmBUTP6ppic for more information.
