Saarlouis -- Town in Germany under scrutiny - Law enforcement officers fire at assailants
In Saarlouis, a policeman had to use his weapon against a man wielding a knife. The man, aged 43, initially refused to follow authorities' commands or listen to a warning shot. Eventually, the officer fired at the assailant's lower leg to protect himself and his colleague.
Investigators report that this particular individual had a history of aggression towards innocent bystanders, resorting to insults and even spitting at them. The Saarbrücken prosecutor's office shared this update on Tuesday. At the moment, the suspect is undergoing medical attention. Current evidence suggests that his injuries aren't fatal.
