Softer Remark Following Admission - Law enforcement officer sexually assaults woman (21) but receives probation.
Tayfun A, a 31-year-old federal police officer, admitted in court to sexually assaulting his 21-year-old coworker during a private meeting.
The Bonn Regional Court has issued a sentence of one year and ten months in prison for rape and intentional bodily harm, suspended for four years, against the alleged offender.
EUR 8,000 compensation for the victim
Tayfun A. confessed to his reprehensible act shortly before the end of the trial and apologized, as reported by the "Kölner Stadtanzeiger" on Wednesday. He will lose his job, his civil servant status, and any pension benefits. In addition, he must pay EUR 8,000 in compensation for pain and suffering, which he offered to the victim.
During the trial, Tayfun A. repeatedly denied assaulting his junior colleague.
Both the officer and the 21-year-old woman worked for the federal police at Frankfurt Airport and met during a joint assignment. On July 11, 2022, he invited her to a meeting at his house in Siegburg, North Rhine-Westphalia. After having a glass of wine and she having a glass of gin, he attempted to approach her. However, the younger woman blocked him. She then went into the bathroom to adjust her clothes. When she came out, the policeman suddenly attacked her violently.
That same night, the woman spent the night at a friend's house out of fear of finding herself alone in her apartment. The following day, she filed a report with the police and had her family doctor certify a hematoma she sustained during the attack.
The officer was immediately suspended. Tayfun A. is now jobless but still on the loose.
