Lassos Rodeo National Finals Returns for 10th Year in Las Vegas
A new deal will keep the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo (NFR) in Las Vegas through 2035, three days ahead of the NFR’s citywide debut in 2023, Las Vegas Events (LVE) announced Monday.
"This is truly a historic day for the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association," PRCA CEO Tom Glause said in a release. "This extension will benefit all aspects of the PRCA , including our participants, stock contractors, committees, contracting staff and our fans. This commitment in Las Vegas preserves the momentum we have built over the past 38 years."
LVE’s contract with PRCA is scheduled to expire in 2025, according to a press release, which stated financial commitments and annual breakdowns will be announced at a later date.
"For 38 years, the NFR has transformed our city and brought millions of rodeo fans to Las Vegas to share the NFR experience," said LVE President Tim Keener. "We are partnering with the PRCA and its Participants have developed a strong partnership and believe this new agreement will benefit all parties. We look forward to hosting another ten years of this iconic event.”
The NFR has had 360 consecutive sellouts, attracting top 15 competitors in bareback riding, steer wrestling, team roping, saddle bronc riding, bondage roping, barrel racing and bull riding.
Past locations
The NFR leaves Las Vegas in 2020 and is held in Arlington, Texas. The move was attributed to COVID-19 restrictions in Nevada. The rodeo returned to Las Vegas in 2021, running over ten days in Las Vegas the following year and attracting a total of 173,350 spectators.
This year’s NFR will be held from Wednesday, December 7 to Saturday, December 16 at the Thomas & Mack Center.
