Las Vegas Striptease: Dita Von Teese will 'reinterpret showgirl' in her new digs.

Striptease revivalist Dita Von Teese will perform a residency at the Horseshoe Las Vegas on the Las Vegas Strip, it was announced Thursday.

"Dita Las Vegas: A Jubilant Review" opens October 5 at the Jubilee Theater. This is where Jubilee takes place. Worked at Bally's for 35 years. The last showgirl show on the Las Vegas Strip began in 1981 (when the casino resort was still called the MGM Grand) and ran until 2016.

Dita Las Vegas aims to reimagine the showgirl aesthetic through Von Teese's sensual, prop-based burlesque performance. Inspired by musicals and movies from the 1930s and 1940s, it features a giant carousel and powder box and was invented by Von Teese in 1992.

"Like burlesque, showgirls are no longer a relic of the past," Von Teese said in a press release. "It's amazing to see this art form continue to evolve and flourish, including beauty and gender standards."

Von Teese, who is 5 feet 10 inches tall, noted in a press release that her height, shape or age did not qualify her to be a showgirl, ballerina or cast member of "Crazy Horse." “But for me, it’s always about breaking expectations,” she said. “This Las Vegas residence will be no different.”

Von Teese will serve as star and creative director of the 75-minute show, which features vintage hydraulic elevators, floating platforms and a pedestrian bridge, as well as many of her own original Jubilee! costumes and designs. The set started about a month ago shopping around town.

“My dream was to create a show that paid homage to the great American art form of burlesque and showgirls,” Von Teese said.

Born 51 years ago as Heather Sweet, Von Teese chose her stage name as a tribute to silent film actress Dita Parlo. In December 2002, for a groundbreaking cover shoot for Playboy magazine, she had to provide her last name, so she chose "Von Treese" from the phone book and kept the Playboy misspelling.

In addition to burlesque dancing, Vantis is also known as a model and fashion designer, and for her three-year marriage to now-cancelled goth-metal icon Marilyn Manson, who appeared in her videos in the early 1970s.

"Tita Las Vegas" is directed and executive produced by Michael Schwandt, former director of Cirque du Soleil's "R.U.N." In Luxor.

"Dita Las Vegas" airs Thursdays through Saturdays at 9 p.m. Tickets go on sale to the public at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 13, at Ticketmaster.com/DitaVegas. There you will also find information about fan and Caesars Entertainment pre-sales.
