Las Vegas New Year's Eve attacker reportedly faces 74 charges
The man who allegedly fired multiple bullets near the Las Vegas Strip on Sunday morning has been charged with 74 counts.
Jon Roger Letzkus, 45, faces 72 charges of discharging a firearm from a building or vehicle in a restricted area, according to local news reports.
He was also arrested for possessing or possessing a weapon by a prohibited person and damaging or injuring another person's real or personal property worth more than $5,000.
Suffering from disease
Lezkus was booked into the Clark County Detention Center late Sunday. He did not appear in court due to an undisclosed illness, Las Vegas TV station KLAS reported. His next court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday. As of Tuesday, he remained in custody.
An unknown number of shootings occurred Sunday in the 100 block of East Harmon Avenue. The location is east of the Las Vegas Strip and near the MGM Grand.

It was unclear how many weapons Lezkus was carrying during the shooting. Not sure how much ammunition he has. Witnesses said they heard as many as 40 gunshots.
No one was injured in the shooting. Some of the bullets damaged windows and other parts of buildings near where he shot. The motive for the shooting is unclear.
KLAS reports the shooting was reported to authorities as an active shooter around 6 a.m. PT on Sunday. Letskus was arrested hours later. About 30 LVMPD officers responded to the scene, including SWAT team members, according to witness statements. Police searched the building and determined there was only one shooter.
Harmon Avenue between Las Vegas Boulevard and Koval Lane is temporarily closed to the public pending an investigation. Police advise pedestrians and drivers to avoid the area.
Despite the shooting, fireworks and other New Year's Eve events on the Las Vegas Strip late Sunday continued as planned.
The shooter is a poker player
Poker News revealed this week that Letzkus is a poker player who has competed in the World Series of Poker and other tournaments.
