LAS VEGAS FOOD SCOOP: Retro-Inactive Top Chefs' Eatery, Significant Food Hall Now Closed

The Sundry Food Hall at the UnCommons residential development in southwest Las Vegas is shutting down on Saturday, June 22, less than a year and a half since its grand opening.

"The Sundry was conceptualized through a daring, inventive idea to introduce a global food hall to the Vegas locals," said Patric Yumul, CEO of Table One Hospitality, in a statement.

"Regrettably, we won't be able to cater to the community as we initially intended."

Upon its launch in June 2023, the 18,000 square-foot venture in upscale residential dining housed 15 eateries, including Shotaro Kamio’s sushi joint, Mizunara, and Smitten Ice Cream, both of which stopped operations last month without providing a reason.

Now we have the answer.

Top Chefs backing out

Also closing is Retro, the '80s and '90s-themed restaurant from "Top Chef" celebrities Michael and Bryan Voltaggio. Its final day is June 29.

However, this shutdown was pre-planned since the eatery — which inherited the cherished former Aureole space at Mandalay Bay — was a pre-arranged "one-year culinary residency."

After Michael won "Top Chef's" Season 6 (with Bryan finishing as runner-up), the brothers constructed a culinary powerhouse that now encompasses modern seafood restaurant Estuary at CityCenterDC’s Conrad Hotel and the Voltaggio Brothers Steak House at MGM National Harbor.
