Las Vegas flooded by storm, hundreds of flights delayed - Video

About 383 flights were delayed and 41 canceled at Harry Reid International Airport on Saturday. This was due to stormy weather that also flooded the streets of Las Vegas, FlightAware reported.

The flight tracking service announced that more flights were delayed or canceled on Friday due to adverse conditions.

The storms that flooded the Las Vegas Valley on Friday and Saturday also caused one death, multiple power outages and flooding.

Las Vegas Fire and Rescue crews discovered a lifeless body near Rainbow Boulevard on Saturday. The unnamed victim appears to have drowned during Friday night's storm. According to Las Vegas TV station KLAS, the body was washed away by the current and then rested in the rubble.

At the height of the storm, Las Vegas firefighters rescued about a dozen pedestrians after civilians became trapped in waterways. An additional 30 to 35 vehicles were trapped in the water during the storm.

Additionally, about 4,000 residents and businesses in the Las Vegas Valley were without power.

Major roads are also flooded during heavy rains. Those include intersections such as Las Vegas Boulevard and Cheyenne Boulevard and Blue Diamond Road and Rainbow Boulevard, Las Vegas television station KTNV reported.

More than 1.5 inches of rain was reported Friday night on Cheyenne Boulevard and the Las Vegas Strip.Fox Weather predicts flooded roads will begin to dry out on Sunday.

Social media posters also informed the public about flooding conditions. The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that water is coming out of the ground at the Linq Hotel + Experience on the Las Vegas Strip.

However, Andrew Trax, deputy general manager of the Clark County Regional Flood Control District, said the flood control infrastructure is largely operating effectively.

Overall, we're doing a great job and keeping a very low profile, except in some areas, like behind Linq, where we're very visible because everyone thinks something is wrong, but it's not. ”Trelease tells us the insider.

Allegiant Stadium Leaks

Additionally, Allegiant Stadium began leaking during a football game between the Bryant Bulldogs and UNLV Rebels on Saturday, Fox Weather reported.

Clark County Public Works crews also repaired a sinkhole near the intersection of Jones and Harmon avenues on Friday. According to KLAS, it is described as eight feet wide and 10 feet deep.

Several roads in Clark County were closed Saturday due to flooding and damage, including:

  • Lander Road in Moapa Jones and Gunderson Avenues
