Las Vegas Dining Update: Wolfgang Closes Lupo, Mandalay Bay's "Baywatch," and Venetian Opens HaSalon

Wolfie's, a restaurant owned by famous chef Wolfgang Puck located at Mandalay Bay since 1999, is shutting down permanently. The spot will reopen later this year as a new Italian eatery connected to Puck, as per a recent report from the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Wolfie's won't simply disappear from the city, however. Its menu and name will move to the Wolfgang Puck Players Locker in Downtown Summerlin, where both establishments are expected to shut down in late summer and reopen with their new identities by the end of the year.

This marks the third major dining overhaul at Mandalay Bay in recent times. Another beloved steak restaurant, Fleur, established by Chef Hubert Keller here 18 years back, will permanently shut down on June 30, with a new project taking its place in winter. And Charlie Palmer's Aureole was replaced by Retro by Votaggio, which is staying for just a year, in May.

New Openings & Closings

Israeli chef Chef Eyal Shani is launching his second place at The Venetian. He's debuting HaSalon (which translates to "living room") on July 15th. This fine-dining venture will complement the casual Mediterranean dining spot, Miznon, he opened in December 2022. HaSalon already has locations in New York, Paris, London, Ibiza, and Miami.

Casual pizza and pasta shop Luchini from Tao Group Hospitality is set to open at the MGM Grand this fall, involving an adjacent pizza shop too.

The Composers Room Showlounge & Restaurant, a recent venture by Damian Costa and Nick Cordaro of Pompey Entertainment, is slated for a summer opening at the Historic Commercial Center. The spot will provide dining experiences and vintage Vegas performances.

Area15, an unusual 20-acre entertainment complex, has added another bar. Asylum Bar + Arcade offers non-alcoholic cocktails to patrons under 21, while its second floor is reserved for legal drinking age guests.

An electrical fire recently destroyed Jessie Rae's BBQ at 5611 S. Valley View Blvd. Despite the unfortunate incident, the popular eatery's second location at 308 N. Boulder Highway remains unaffected.
