Las Vegas Bureau of Criminal Investigation: Officer injured in crash near Las Vegas Strip

A Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) officer and another person were transported to a local hospital following a crash Monday night near the Las Vegas Strip.

The unnamed officer and an unidentified driver of the car were both in hospital in stable condition Monday.

Both are expected to recover after treatment. No information was provided about their injuries. The officer remained alert after the crash, Las Vegas television station KLAS reported.

The collision happened around 8 p.m. Located at the intersection of Paradise Road and Desert Inn Street. This location is close to the Las Vegas Convention Center and the Las Vegas Marriott Hotel.

A total of three vehicles were involved in the accident.

The injured officer appeared to be driving an LVMPD cruiser in the northbound lane of Paradise Road. Subsequently, a driver of a white car ignored the traffic lights and collided with the police car.

A third vehicle was also damaged in the collision. The driver of the vehicle was not injured.

As of Tuesday, police were continuing to investigate the crash. According to KLAS, none of the drivers appeared to be intoxicated at the time of the accident. No word on charges.

Hours after the crash, LVMPD officials urged motorists to avoid the intersection. Traffic was diverted while police investigated the crash.

TWO SHOTS NEAR UNLV

Two people were injured in a shooting late Monday afternoon near the University of Nevada, Las Vegas campus.

Both men were transported to local hospitals for treatment. Authorities did not release updated information on their conditions late Monday.

The shooting was initially reported around 5:15 p.m. According to Las Vegas television station KSNV, the incident took place on Escondido Street near Maryland Avenue and Flamingo Road.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) officers quickly searched for witnesses and searched for evidence at the scene.

It is said that the man stabbed the police dog

A man was arrested Friday for allegedly stabbing a Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) dog multiple times.

Enzo, a 2-year-old Belgian Malinois used as a police dog, was killed by Thurman Lowe, 64, after he barricaded himself inside a property on South Las Vegas Boulevard during a fire. It bit him.

After the dog was stabbed, he was airlifted to a special care facility and required surgery. Following surgery, he was in critical but stable condition.

Police said Lowe faces five charges. That includes attempting to kill a police animal, assault with a deadly weapon and first-degree arson, Las Vegas television station KVVU reported.

Law was also injured during the confrontation with the dog and required hospitalization. He is also a suspect in a fatal shooting and fire in St. Louis, Missouri, Las Vegas television station KLAS reported.
