The agreement comes to an end. - Lainer's signing approaches!

Stefan Lainer, a 31-year-old footballer who joined the Foals in July 2019, is approaching the end of his contract with Gladbach. He hasn't yet decided whether or not to extend it.

Lainer: "It looks promising!"

There's a likely announcement of an agreement in the next few days. Coach Roland Virkus (57) already mentioned before the 4-0 loss in Stuttgart that a decision might be made within the next 10 days.

There's a big advantage to extending Lainer's contract - Gladbach's lack of standout players!

During the previous Bundesliga season, there was nobody in charge on the field, with each player seeming to play for themselves. Lainer is the kind of player who could inspire others - if he receives the coach's confidence and regular playing time.

Lainer might achieve his dream on Tuesday (6pm) when Austria's national team coach, Ralf Rangnick, announces the ÖFB squad for the Euro Championship in Germany.

In terms of defenders, Kevin Danso (RC Lens), Phillipp Mwene (FSV Mainz), Stefan Posch (FC Bologna), and Lainer's teammate Maximilian Wöber are all sure to be included.

Lainer, along with others like Samson Baidoo (RB Salzburg), Flavius Daniliuc (RB Salzburg), Philipp Lienhart (SC Freiburg), Leopold Querfeld (Rapid Vienna), and Gernot Trauner (Feyenoord Rotterdam), are still uncertain. Professionals such as David Affengruber (Sturm Graz) and ex-Gladbach player Valentino Lazaro (FC Torino) are also hopeful.

But Lainer's experience is also an asset for the national team.

And getting nominated would definitely be a career highlight for Lainer after battling cancer.
