Mainz's head coach Heidel - Klopp may never return to the Bundesliga.

Christian Heidel, age 60, not only serves as the Chief Sports Officer at Mainz 05 but also maintains a close friendship with renowned coaching icon Jürgen Klopp, aged 56 and recognized as the FIFA World Coach of the Year in 2019 and 2020. During an interview on Sky, Heidel sheds light on why he no longer perceives the soon-to-retire Liverpool coach (departing after almost nine years at the season's end) as a potential coach in the Bundesliga.

Buddy Speaks Out: "It won't be that simple. I just cannot envision him ever taking up coaching for any English club. It's not his thing, and it'd be challenging in Germany."

Heidel and Klopp have been friends for years. In 2001, when Heidel was the Mainz team manager, Klopp transitioned from a player to a coach. In 2004, they jointly celebrated promotion to the Bundesliga. In 2005 and 2006, the club faced relegation, and Klopp left a year later to join Dortmund. Nonetheless, it's evident that the successes Klopp achieved while coaching Mainz laid the groundwork for a prosperous future for the club. The Nullfünfer have been playing in the Bundesliga for 15 years nowadays.

Klopp's plans for the future remain unclear. He has declared he intends to take a break for some time. Although he's been considered a top candidate for the German national team's coach, many believed that he could potentially step in after Löw's resignation in 2021. Yet, Heidel doubts that we'll see Klopp return to coaching anytime soon.

The Mainz CEO stated: "Don't all those people who think he'll be back in two months! I am pretty certain it's not Jürgen Klopp. And, to be honest, I already know a bit about what he's been up to."

Heidel further elaborated: "To all the folks who assume he'll be back in a matter of days, consider how much weight is put on a coach like Jürgen Klopp - due to the clubs he's been with. I wholeheartedly understand his desire to focus on himself and his family now."

Undoubtedly, he deserves this break.
