KISS Launches Restaurant as Component of Potawatomi Casino Extension
On Tuesday, August 1, the Potawatomi Casino Hotel got a special visit from KISS co-founders Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley. Their purpose was to open the 23rd branch of their rock-themed restaurant chain named Rock & Brews, as part of the resort's $190 million makeover.
Simmons expressed his excitement by saying, "Wow, check out this place! It's beautiful... and it's right here in the 'Brew City,' as it should be. You see the connection."
The duo, along with partners Michael Zislis, and Michael and Dave Furano, created Rock & Brews in 2012. So far, there are already over 6 more planned to open this year. They even have a Rock & Brews Casino in Braman, Oklahoma, which opened in May.
Dominic Ortiz, the CEO of the Potawatomi Casino Hotel, spoke to the crowd, stating, "Rock & Brews is a global brand, with fantastic dining and music. This is the best Rock & Brews ever made. This was the dream, to raise the bar and bring excitement. You wanted the best; we delivered the best."
Simmons teased the crowd with the description of the Demon Chicken Sandwich from the menu, saying it "hits you as hard as a good punch to the mouth." The eatery's menu also includes the Alice Cooper Poison Burger, named after one of KISS's influences.
This new restaurant opening is part of a massive $190 million renovation of the Potawatomi Casino Hotel, located near downtown Milwaukee. It was first announced in May 2022 by the Forest County Potawatomi, who opened the property in 1991. Changes include a new high-limit gaming room with a top-tier bar, stage, and brick-oven kitchen.
The casino itself is adding 1,800 slot machines and a new bar with built-in games, which will be a first for the establishment. The whole renovation project is set to complete later this year.
However, the event's entertainment disappointingly consisted only of a KISS cover band. Simmons and Stanley did not join them for a song.
