Kim Zolciak of 'Real Housewives' Accused of Being a Compulsive Gambler

Kim Zolciak, known for her appearances on Bravo's "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" and her own spinoff "Don't Be Tardy," is facing a messy divorce from her husband, Kroy Biermann. The 45-year-old socialite's personal life is being exposed during the separation process.

Biermann claims in court documents that Zolciak has a gambling addiction and used marital funds for gambling. He also accuses her of taking up online gambling, which "financially devastated the parties." Furthermore, he alleges that her addiction led to her failing to properly care for their four underage children.

In a 2020 tweet, Biermann's older child, Brielle, suggests her mother does indeed have a gambling problem. She recalls being dragged to a casino in North Carolina by her mother when she was 20 and not allowed to enter due to her young age. Brielle says her mother picked her up in the middle of the night and drove for two hours before arriving at a casino in North Carolina, where she had to wait in the car until Kim finally emerged around 3 a.m.

There are only two tribally owned casinos in North Carolina: Harrah's Cherokee and Harrah's Cherokee Valley River, both located in the southwestern part of the state and operated by Caesars Entertainment. The casino journey from Atlanta, where Zolciak lives, to Harrah's Cherokee Valley River is an approximately two-hour drive, and to Harrah's Cherokee is nearly three hours.

Zolciak insists gambling did not hurt her family and that Biermann is just trying to tarnish her reputation in the media. However, their Georgia mansion is reportedly under foreclosure, and they owe the IRS over $1 million in back taxes.

Sadly, Biermann continues to spread lies in order to portray Kim as an unfit mother for his own gain, causing their divorce to play out publicly and potentially harming their children in the future, Kim said in a statement.

Her attorney added, "Kim has remained quiet throughout the divorce process to protect the children, but with this recent filing, she cannot stay silent. The emotional and mental abuse Kim has endured from this man for years has caught up with her and their children. Kim has always been an incredibly dedicated mother to her children – they are her world, and she is always there to love and support them."
