Keith Urban, Steve Aoki Set to Perform at Las Vegas Grand Prix Launch
Formula One has announced its star-studded lineup for the inaugural Las Vegas Grand Prix's opening ceremony, scheduled for Wednesday, November 15, three days before the main race.
Eight renowned musical acts have been confirmed to perform on seven mobile stages. These acts include rock groups Journey, Bishop Briggs, and Thirty Seconds to Mars (featuring acclaimed actor Jared Leto), dance acts/DJs Steve Aoki and J Balvin, R&B/soul singer Andra Day, country singer Keith Urban, and rapper will.i.am.
Interestingly, a ninth act, dance DJ trio Swedish House Mafia, was also mentioned in the original press release. However, an email from the group's manager revealed that the press release was sent out prior to their confirmation.
Other performers and acts include all 20 Formula 1 racers, the Blue Man Group, and Cirque du Soleil.
The show features an impressive lighting display with 1,000 lights and 100 lasers, fireworks, and a carefully crafted drone show powered by T-Mobile.
Scheduled to kick off at 7:30 p.m., the opening ceremony is expected to draw a crowd of around 30,000 spectators who will witness the event either from the Wynn Grid Club, Paddock Club, Skybox, or Heineken Silver Main Grandstands. Additionally, ESPN2 plans to broadcast the opening ceremony nationally.
Renee Wilm, CEO of the Las Vegas Grand Prix, expressed her enthusiasm for the spectacular show in a statement, “We wanted to create an opening ceremony that encapsulates the essence of Las Vegas while showcasing the immense global excitement that Formula 1 and its amazing drivers bring to each city they visit. We are thrilled to work with some of the most talented entertainment professionals in the business to bring fans a diverse range of beloved musical acts that will launch the race week in style.”
