File Submission in Rio - Katrin Krabbe is set to tie the knot!
A blonde athlete from Neubrandenburg claimed gold medals in the 100 and 200 meters sprint at the 1991 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, making her Germany's double Sportswoman of the Year. Krabbe was the first celebrity of a unified Germany. She eventually fell into the trap of doping along with her trainer Thomas Springstein, but the International Association of Athletics Federations compensated her with 1.2 million German marks.
Katrin Krabbe got hitched to the ex-rowing world championship and lawyer Michael Zimmermann, who introduced her to parenthood of two sons. However, they had to face somber times.
In 2008, the pair declared bankruptcy. Sadly, in May 2015, her husband chose to end his life in the forest - only 52 years old while leaving no notes.
Krabbe staged a comeback, took up a job in a car dealership, and even dedicated time for looking after terminally ill individuals free of charge in a hospice.
At a golf tournament organized by a mutual friend, Axel Lange, in 2019, she met Karsten Fluhr. Since then, Krabbe seems happy once again. He surprised her with a proposal during their trip to Rio in 2020 and they are now preparing for their marriage.
Clearly, she has now found the man who can support her through thick and thin.
