Born in Berlin-Pankow on May 22, 1984, Karoline Herfurth has had a varied life. Her parents separated when she was young, leaving her to grow up in a large blended family with seven siblings.
After graduating high school in 2003, Herfurth was drawn to the stage. She trained at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts from 2004 to 2008, but she didn't stop there. In 2008, she also started studying sociology, politics, and Russian at the Humboldt University in Berlin.
Herfurth discovered her passion for acting as a kid – she first appeared on camera for the ZDF television show "Ferien jenseits des Mondes" when she was just ten years old. She made her movie debut in "Crazy" and starred in the "Mädchen, Mädchen" series, making her a popular face in Germany.
She also caught the attention of American audiences. After appearing in "Perfume – The Story of a Murderer," Herfurth joined the likes of Kate Winslet and Ralph Fiennes in the film "The Reader."
Herfurth often embraced challenging roles in her films, such as the anorexic Marie in "Vincent will Meer" or Sonja in "Wunderschön," who deals with societal pressures and her self-image. She also directed "Wunderschön" and "SMS für dich" and "Einfach mal was Schönes."
Herfurth has been a household name in Germany since the comedy "Fack ju Göhte." She shared the screen with Elyas M'Barek and provided plenty of laughs. The two later worked together again in "Das perfekte Geheimnis."
Over the years, Herfurth has collected an impressive list of awards, including a Grimme Prize, the Bavarian Film Prize, and a Bambi. Professionally, she's had a successful career.
In 2023, Herfurth surprised many by revealing a well-guarded secret. She had managed to keep her relationship out of the public eye until she and husband Christopher Doll attended the Ernst Lubitsch Award ceremony. The couple had worked together on previous productions, and their love blossomed. They have two children now.
