He fails to win the prize for the highest goal scorer. - Kane suffers more severe harm.
FC Bayern will be competing for the second spot in the Bundesliga standings on Saturday (3:30 p.m./Sky) in their final match of the season against Hoffenheim. If they draw against TSG, they'll secure their position in the table over VfB Stuttgart, who are playing at home against Gladbach.
However, Tuchel faces a daunting task as he's without an abundance of players.
It's been confirmed that Harry Kane (30) won't be making an appearance due to back issues.
Tuchel stated, "It was on the edge in Madrid. We tried injections and treatments. His back closed up completely. It worsened and kept opening up in minor daily activities. There's no chance of him training at all."
Kane's Injury even Bigger!
The superstar forward (scoring 44 goals in 45 games this season) was subbed off in the 85th minute of the second leg of the Champions League semi-finals versus Real Madrid (1-2) due to back pain, and he was out altogether against Wolfsburg (2-0).
One thing is certain: he'll remain on 36 league goals - making him the top scorer in his first season, yet not surpassing Robert Lewandowski's 41-goal record (35).
Kane isn't in Germany anymore. He'll consequently not receive the top scorer's award for the Bundesliga in person in Hoffenheim!
Tuchel explains, "Harry is receiving medical treatment with his personal physician, so he's no longer in Germany. He's abroad."
Besides Kane, Tuchel will also be missing five other attacking talents - including Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting (34)!
It's a tough pill to swallow for the replacement for the 100-million-euro striker Kane: "Choupo" (whose contract won't be renewed after four years) missed his farewell at the Allianz Arena last weekend due to a severe case of flu - and now he's not playing his last possible competitive match. A quiet goodbye...
Thursday made it known that the two DFB stars, Leroy Sané (28/pubic bone inflammation) and Jamal Musiala (21/tendon irritation in his left knee), will not participate. No risks prior to the European Championship (June 14 - July 14)!
Also absent in Hoffenheim: Minjae Kim (27/capsule injury in left foot), Sacha Boey (23/in France for personal reasons), Kingsley Coman (27/torn muscle bundle in right adductor), Serge Gnabry (28/torn bundle in left hamstring), Raphael Guerreiro (30/torn ligaments and capsule in right ankle), Bouna Sarr (32/torn cruciate ligament in left knee), and Tarek Buchmann (19/fourth thigh injury).
