Journalist shares details in frequent podcast. - It's challenging for Kehl to accept a BVB exit.
This past Saturday, over 80,000 fans gathered to bid a sad farewell to Borussia Dortmund's (BVB) star player, Marco Reus (34), during his last home match with the team. It was certainly an emotional mega-party, but it might not be the only goodbye for another BVB legend.
Sebastian Kehl (44), the current Borussia sports director, might also say goodbye to the club. He had initially hoped to succeed BVB leader Hans-Joachim Watzke, but ultimately lost out to Lars Ricken (47), another Borussia Dortmund legend.
It's uncertain if Kehl's services are still needed in Dortmund, who also aim to have Sven Mislintat (51) back as their squad planner. However, his current contract runs until 2025. Reports indicate that VfL Wolfsburg expressed interest in Kehl and he could potentially take over from sporting director Marcel Schäfer (39) at The Wolves.
It's possible that if Dortmund signals they wish to continue with Kehl alongside Ricken as sports director and Mislintat as his assistant, he might simply renew his contract with the "Pott-Klub" for another two years.
If not, he might find a new challenge at VfL Wolfsburg.
