Following Dardai's departure. - Is the relationship between Hertha and Fiél becoming more intense?
FCN coach Cristian Fiél (44) didn't seem to be in a celebratory mood after ending their losing streak (5 consecutive defeats). When the final whistle blew, he kneeled and stared at his hands in front of his face for a while. He later reflected, "My mind was whirring with thoughts."
It's possible those thoughts could be about his potential exit after just a year at the Valznerweiher, despite having a contract until 2025. The rumors from Berlin that he's a top choice to replace Pal Dardai (48) refuse to wane.
Are the rumors between Hertha and Fiél getting serious?
It's been reported that Hertha has already held in-depth discussions with Fiél. Regarding the Berlin rumors, he merely responded, "I have a contract here, so I'm not bothered by it."
Neither does the club acknowledge such talks. However, it is public knowledge that Berlin's head of licensed games Andreas "Zecke" Neuendorf (49) and Fiél have a strong rapport. Plus, Hertha's desired qualities in a new coach perfectly align with Fiél's skills, such as nurturing youth and adopting an attractive, offensive style.
This means Fiél could be on the radar. Furthermore, his wife Diana hails from Berlin. At FCN, the future is uncertain, considering the recent dismissal of sporting director Dieter Hecking (59).
So the coach position might still be a topic of intrigue at the club. Fiél's contract could be the least significant obstacle in this scenario.
