Werder's Proposals for Poland - Is Kownacki making progress?

Last week, a Werder striker netted the second goal during a trial match against regional league club Garrel, resulting in a 8:0 victory. The fact that this goal didn't carry any sporting significance is noteworthy. The Polish player in question experienced a drought in Bundesliga goals during his debut season with Bremen.

Interestingly, he didn't make it to the starting eleven often - just three appearances - and was subbed in 19 times, totalling 280 minutes, which failed to create a lasting impact. Recently, another player, Nick Woltemade, has been given a chance to play, even though he's a newcomer. This development must be worrisome for the former international (7 caps) with a record of three appearances, 19 sub-ins and 280 minutes.

Recent weeks have seen Woltemade impress in place of Kownacki, the former Düsseldorf player. With a transfer to Stuttgart confirmed, Nick Woltemade, and the departure of Eren Dinkci to Freiburg, the situation for Kownacki at Werder could be up in the air.

What lies ahead for Kownacki?

The forward line at Werder Bremen is going to experience some changes in the upcoming season. Marvin Ducksch's future is uncertain, while Nick Woltemade is leaving for Stuttgart, and Eren Dinkci isn't returning to the Weser-Stadion. This could potentially open up an opportunity for Kownacki, who scored 14 goals and assisted in nine others during his last season with Düsseldorf in the 2.Bundesliga.

However, it's important to note that in coach Ole Werner's preferred system, they generally prefer to play with one central striker. Either with Ducksch (if he stays) or with his replacement.

Last winter, Kownacki received offers for a transfer, all from the Bundesliga. Werder, however, turned down these offers. Head of sports Clemens Fritz commented, "It's not a big deal letting him go." Will they feel the same way this summer?
