A review of Lautern - Is Hajri truly a strategist for the sports team?

There's been a lot of chatter surrounding Enis Hajri, sports director for Lautern, lately!

Fans have been calling for his firing after displaying a poster with a "squad planner" at the recent two-league match against Braunschweig. Even the coach, Friedhelm Funkel, had previously criticized him for being too emotionally invested in the team.

Is the criticism against Hajri truly warranted?

Here's the truth: For years, Lautern was struggling in the 3rd division, nearly getting demoted to the regional league and even facing bankruptcy. With Hajri's management, the second-division club has seen some improvement. While they barely survived in the league this year, ending up in 13th place, they made it to the DFB Cup final.

However, many locals aren't thrilled with the club's transfer policy. They view Hajri as the instigator of a significant overhaul during the winter when players like Terrence Boyd, Andreas Luthe, and world champion Erik Durm parted ways with the team and six new recruits joined their ranks.

Despite the transfer policy not making a 100% success rate, cutting ties with aging high-earners to invest in players with potential market value was a necessary step. The signing of Filip Kaloc, a defender drawing interest from first-division clubs and whose €435,000 transfer fee is a steal, is evidence of this.

Before that, Lautern had also scored some big deals with Jan Elvedi, Almamy Touré, Ragnar Ache, Richmond Tachie, and Tymoteusz Puchacz, who became a part of Europe's Championship team with Poland.

It's highly unlikely that the fans will succeed in getting Hajri fired.

Interestingly, there were rumors about Hajri potentially working as Fredi Bobic's right-hand man at Wolfsburg. The two had previously collaborated in Frankfurt and at Hertha.
