Christian Streich (58) teared up as he said goodbye as Freiburg's coach before their game against Union Berlin. In a chat with Sky reporter Michael Leopold (52) earlier that day, Streich started crying.
Streich mentioned, "No, I've been through a metamorphosis for weeks. There have been so many people who have given me so much... I'm very touched."
When Leopold inquired about who he would miss the most, Streich's eyes filled with tears as he said, "The people." The two then ended their talk with a warm embrace.
The match between Freiburg and Union Berlin was at 3:30 pm (aired on Sky and ). Streich had been with the club for twelve years and was seeing it off in his last game. The previous week, Streich was given a heartwarming farewell by his supporters during the match against 1. FC Heidenheim (ending in a draw, 1:1).
