Intensifying Incident: Inebriated Vegas Visitor Attacks Person while Trying to Descend on Escalator
Over the weekend, a video that quickly went viral seems to show an attack carried out by a man trying to go up an escalator on a pedestrian walkway located along the Las Vegas Strip.
Las Vegas Locally, a Twitter news source, shared this video on June 7 and by Monday morning, it had garnered about 397,000 views.
Initially, the person filming the clip appears to find the unsteady man's dizziness amusing. He yells words of encouragement, telling him, "You can do it, buddy!"
However, things turn sour when the perpetrator comes across people correctly using the escalator. In the video, we see him brutally pushing a man aside before landing a hard punch to his head. The narrator of the video expresses his surprise, shouting, "Oh, for fuck's sake, man!" as a group of onlookers express their astonishment.
Another man who was going down the escalator, already aware of the danger, manages to push the drunk man into the railing, blocking him from taking a second swing.
The drunk individual continued his journey up the escalator, with a cluster of people gathered at the top. Some watched, while others recorded the incident. The majority, sensibly, chose to stay away and not become the next victim.
The only exception to this were a man and woman, who were unaware of the situation they had stepped into. When the man realized, he stepped in front of the woman to protect her. To everyone's surprise, the perpetrator responded with a high five rather than landing a second punch.
The video ended with no resolution. Las Vegas police did not respond to emails requesting information on the incident, which could have been unreported.
The reactions to the video were varied, ranging from anger to humor.
User @AB8TN commented, "I think that guy needs a knuckle sandwich," while @tie_sheet_steel added, "Beta males I would've whooped him right there if he pulled that shit with me."
@Nerdstradamus98 joked, "Never skip leg day," and @DBrennanCYW quipped, "I'm more surprised to see a working escalator on the Strip."
