A magnitude of 6.4 on the Richter scale. - Intense quake strikes area between Mexico and Guatemala.
An earthquake hit around 5:45 am, close to the Mexican border community of Suchiate, where a river with the same name divides the two countries. At the moment, no indications of harm have surfaced, however, hilly, geographically isolated sections of the border area are more susceptible to landslides.
The earthquake possessed an initial magnitude of 6.4 and a depth of 75 kilometers, as per the United States Geological Survey.
