Syntainics MBC can claim their spot in the German Basketball League ahead of time this Saturday with a win against Ludwigsburg in the afternoon. The team coached by Predrag Krunic needs to secure a victory to achieve this goal. They also need Heidelberg to lose against Ulm in the evening for a better lead in the standings. This would make MBC have a two-win advantage over Heidelberg with two matchdays remaining and win the direct comparison. An MBC win would also allow Crailsheim to defeat Bamberg.
During the match in Würzburg, Syntainics MBC played at par with Würzburg for a while and were even leading 48:45 before the break. However, they fell apart in the third quarter, and the final score was 83:107. Charles Callison's 11 points and 10 assists at his previous workplace were not enough for an MBC comeback. This was his first double-double this season for Weißenfels.
"We didn't play well in the second half, especially on defense. Würzburg is a solid team with great flow. They scored a lot of shots, and breaking their momentum after falling behind was difficult," said Coach Krunic. The team is now putting all its efforts into the last three games.
