Goalkeeper of HSV might leave soon. - Initial enquiries concerning Heuer Fernandes.

Daniel Heuer Fernandes (31 years old) was the undisputed top goalkeeper for Hamburg. Ranking second was Marko Johansson (25 years old), with Lauterer's substitute goalkeeper Matheo Raab (also 25 years old) in third.

However, during the 22nd matchday of the previous season, there was a change. Raab now leads the pack, and Heuer Fernandes has to wait for his chance. Raab has played in every game since then.

Will "Ferro" remain patient, though? In December 2023, this homegrown Bochumer extended his contract until 2026, presumably with the intention of being a permanent fixture in Hamburg's goal.

Coach Steffen Baumgart (52) is likely to continue relying on Raab. This means that the former Darmstadt goalkeeper, who joined HSV since 2019, may not have many chances in the coming season either.

So far, there haven't been any concrete discussions between Heuer Fernandes and the club regarding his future here. However, there have been several intriguing inquiries for the veteran (185 second-league games). Still, nothing has fit just right.

Time is against Heuer Fernandes. He'll commence the season preparation as usual, possibly make some appearances in the usual test games, and cheer on Raab during league games.

But if a tempting offer comes along, Heuer Fernandes is ready to move. By the way: The transfer window in Germany shuts on September 2nd at 6 pm.

As of now, all this is speculation. But suddenly, Hamburg has a significant goalkeeping dilemma. Baumgart currently has six goalkeepers at his disposal for the start of the pre-season.

In addition to Raab and Heuer Fernandes, there is also Tom Mickel (35), the youngster Hannes Hermann (19), who recently signed his first professional contract, and the returning Marko Johansson (25) and Leo Oppermann (22).

Johansson, who has been loaned out for two seasons, still has a contract with Hamburg until 2025. After Bochum, the Swede played for Halmstads BK and most recently at second-league relegated Rostock.

Oppermann, who also has a contract until the summer of 2025, was supposed to gain league experience at Bielefeld in the 3. Liga. However, the goalkeeper prospect only played one league match.
