Indoor Golf Complex in Las Vegas Repairs Cooling System amidst Severe Heatwave in the Region
Weather's looking better for golfers in Sin City now that Atomic Golf's misting system is back up and running, just in time for Father's Day weekend. The system's pump had malfunctioned last month but has now been fixed, as reported by the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
Players had been grumbling about the excess heat within the venue, given the scorching temperatures outside recently. One reviewer on Yelp, Carrie B. from Spring Valley, Nev., commented last month, "No ac or misting systems in the bays. The sun beams right at you and it's even too hot at night. They need to fix this ASAP."
Another Yelp complainant, Kyla R. from Las Vegas, noted, "It was so hot. No AC or fans at all. I was almost fainting in the heat."
Before the repair, management apparently tried out some temporary solutions such as offering ice towels to guests and setting up large fans.
Since air conditioning isn't allowed per local codes, the venue relies on the misting system to keep guests cool.
In additional news, Atomic Golf Las Vegas let go of around 250 employees on May 22, accounting for a third of its workforce. The venue doesn't open until 4 p.m. from Mondays through Thursdays, and the reductions were due to financial difficulties caused by lack of business.
The entry fee to Atomic Golf is either $60 or $80 per hour per bay, depending on the play time/day, with each bay accommodating up to eight players. The venue offers food and beverage service, with the priciest dish being a selection of artisanal meats and cheeses at $42. The complex, which can house 103 bays across four floors and spans 99,000 square feet, is situated next to The Strat Hotel, Casino & Tower.
This Father's Day, Atomic Golf will offer a $25 gift card with a minimum $75 purchase, and fathers will receive ball markers, divot tools, and tee packs on June 16. There will also be all-day tastings and giveaways from Anheuser-Busch, Jack Daniels, and Tito's Handmade Vodka.
Atomic Golf's indoor golf rival, Topgolf, located near the MGM Grand, charges between $42 and $99 per hour per bay (accommodating up to six players), depending on the time and day of the week. On Father's Day, Topgolf will provide a $15 bonus gift card for every $50 spent at the venue.
