Neglected Parking Brake - In Plauen, a truck collides with the wall of a detached home.
On a winding hill road near the castle, the Technical Relief Organization (THW) faced an intricate rescue mission on Wednesday night. The complexity of the mission increased due to an earlier incident involving the truck.
The Polish truck driver apparently encountered issues in Plauen, Saxony, and came to a halt in the alley with his cargo trailer. He disconnected the trailer, but seemingly forgot to apply the brakes on the truck, allowing it to roll down the slope uncontrolled. The truck collided with a single-family home's façade, crashing into the wall without the driver.
Is the house in danger?
Thankfully, no injuries were reported. However, the THW team had to install monitoring points to ascertain whether the house was swaying or at risk of collapse due to the accident. Apparent cracks had appeared in the masonry of the residence.
Extracting the truck from the house proved to be a lengthy task for the helpers. The single-family home and the truck both sustained significant damage. The magnitude of property loss is yet to be estimated.
