After a 29-year concealment, a drag queen decides to unveil their identity. - "I'm the most vibrantly-hued canine in our community."

Morita hasn't had an effortless journey into playing the alluring fictional character. Her ambition: a Pride Day in her hometown. "You need some cojones in Berchtesgaden," Morita says.

More than 1300 individuals follow her on Instagram. There, Morita presents herself in her truest form. Since last year, she's been stepping into the role of drag queen: "Shine brilliantly like a gem," the catchphrase under her first post. Morita attended school in Berchtesgaden but her childhood wasn't hassle-free.

"At 17, Morita sought liberation in Salzburg"

"I've always adored toying with Barbie dolls and stuffed toys," Morita reflects. She postponed coming out due to fear of gossip in the little town. At 17, Morita sought refuge in Salzburg, 25 kilometers away. If Berchtesgaden is a village, Salzburg is a massive city - 150,000 residents compared to 1500. "I'd often go there with my buddies. We had more alternatives for bars and discotheques there," Morita recalls.

She made friends and established connections there. Later, she found her role as a drag queen: "Why should only ladies be permitted to dress exquisitely and put on skirts?" asks Morita. She feels skeptical of the church and feels pastors have room for improvement to connect with stranded congregants.

The drag queen will shortly be attending an event in Passau. At the business she works for, her coworkers are cognizant of her intriguing pastime. Morita launched the "Queersteiger Berchtesgaden" group with Melanie Dommenz at the beginning of the year. "I couldn't have done this without Melanie. She assists and supports me in every spare moment."

Morita is pursuing "a dream": as a drag queen, she hopes to make good money to establish a rescue shelter for teens. Where? Just the future will tell.
