Prussian team coach Hildmann takes charge. - "I'm experiencing a remarkable dream-like state!"
"Hildmann: 'No, seriously not! I still feel like I'm in a fantastic dream. I'm genuinely astonished by everything that's happened, and it's hard to believe that we've successfully made it from the 4th to the 2nd division. That's incredible!
When do you think you'll regain your senses?
Hildmann: 'I'm not sure. It'll take some time to comprehend and accept everything. But I'm incredibly proud of all the players and everyone at the club for accomplishing this fantastic achievement. We did it together, and a huge shout-out to our fantastic fans for their exceptional support through this amazing journey in Münster.'
Next, it's time for a well-earned vacation. What plans do you have in mind?
Hildmann: 'I love extremes, so I'll go fishing with my best pals for a week as usual. This time, we're heading to Lake Möhne. I enjoy kicking back with a cold beer in a boat on the water and waiting to see who takes the bait. That helps me relax after these tiring weeks. After that, I'll travel to Lake Garda with my wife for a few days. She couldn't join the party at the town hall on Sunday due to her job as an everyday companion. We'll unwind, engage in some hiking, and eat and drink delectable food. Just chill out and enjoy it.'
Have you managed to respond to all the congrats messages yet?
Hildmann: 'I've received about 300 voicemails alone, and there are many more WhatsApp messages. I want to listen to each one, read them all, and reply if feasible. But I haven't been able to do that yet. However, I will. I promise...'
Now you're within the top 36 coaches in German soccer. Have you truly comprehended that?
Hildmann: 'Yes, it's incredible - isn't it? As a player, I'd made it to the 2nd division and had always desired to work at this club as a coach eventually. The fact that it's suddenly come true now is mind-boggling.'
What were your most heartfelt moments during the past season?
Hildmann: 'Both positive and negative? Ah, alright. Firstly, the 5:3 victory against Viktoria Köln a few weeks ago. The team demonstrated its unyielding determination, turned things around at the perfect time, and averted a potential loss after trailing 3-1. That inspired everyone to believe in themselves and what they're capable of achieving. I still get shivers just thinking about it. The lowest point was the 4-0 defeat in Bielefeld on the second matchday. That result didn't reflect our actual performance, which was much better. It irritated me and continued to have an impact on me.'
You hail from Kaiserslautern. How does it feel to know the Mayor of Münster better than the head of your hometown?
Hildmann: 'Yes, I'm a true Palatinate - that's true. But I've formed strong bonds with people in Münster and grown to love them over the last four and a half years. The Lord Mayor Markus Lewe and I had a relaxed chat in the Friedenssaal on Sunday. I even suggested that we meet again next year in the same place so I could sign the Golden Book a third time, creating a unique hat trick. He was delighted with the idea...'
In the meantime, the promotion stars led by captain Marc Lorenz have landed in Mallorca on Monday afternoon. Their main focus is to debrief the season. Under cloudy skies yet with their hearts bathed in sunlight. They've earned every bit of this break. They'll then have four weeks off before the preparation for the 2nd division journey begins at the end of June. The season then starts on the first weekend in August (August 2 to 4)"
