600 individuals were removed from their vehicle as a result of a blackout. - Ice malfunction: lack of heating, no toilet, and just alcohol provided

Around 600 passengers were stuck on a train between Hamburg and Bremen due to a technical issue and power failure. The train, which was traveling between the two cities, stopped about 1.5 kilometers away from Lauenbrück station after a fire alarm went off at 2:25 p.m. on a Monday.

Without power, the air conditioning and toilets in the cars were rendered useless. The doors were opened for ventilation, but with the outside temperature being 25 degrees and bright sunshine, the train soon became sweltering hot.

The train attendants handed out water to ease the discomfort of the passengers, but witnesses claim that the passengers drank all the non-alcoholic drinks from the on-board restaurant, leaving only alcohol behind.

The fire department got ready for a possible evacuation, yet the train's staff managed to fix the issue and proceed to Lauenbrück station. It took about two and a half hours for all passengers to exit the trapped train at around 4:50 p.m., and board a replacement ICE.

The fire department then provided all the passengers with fresh drinks. Two individuals experienced headaches and circulation issues and were checked by the emergency services, but did not require hospitalization.

Deutsche Bahn claimed that a technical glitch in the alarm system was most likely the cause. The broken train is now being further examined. Initially, it was headed from Kiel to Munich.

The substitute train departed at 5:30 p.m., and according to Metronom Eisenbahngesellschaft mbH and Deutsche Bahn, no more disruptions occurred in the local or long-distance services on the same line.

After about two hours in the blazing sun, the train slowly rolled into Lauenbrück station. There, around 600 passengers boarded another ICE train
