Returning Prussian Frenkert - I find joy in the balance of life!
Lukas Frenkert is back on Hammer Street. With a broad chest and new self-confidence, he's ready to take on the challenge of being a Second League promoter in Münster starting July 1st. Previously, he spent a year on loan to Regionalligist 1. FC Bocholt, where he played in all 29 league games without missing a single minute. Frenkert, a long defender standing at 1.90 m, was a key player for Bocholt, even being named the best player during the first half of the season by the fans.
Frenkert had struggled with injuries in his past, including a shoulder fracture and a dislocation fracture in his ankle joint, keeping him out of action for a hefty six months. However, his time at Bocholt helped him break through and showcase his skills in a starting position. His role at Bocholt changed under Dietmar Hirsch, Bocholt's head coach. Instead of playing left defensive side under Sascha Hildmann, Frenkert was moved to the center of defense - a position he loves the most. "My absolute favorite position. As a central defender, I can best exploit my strengths, such as heading. I play everywhere where the coach puts me. But my luck lies undoubtedly in the middle!"
The departure of Alexander Hahn, who played for Preußen at the time, left a spot open on the team. Now, Frenkert hopes for the opportunity to assert himself in Münster. He sees it as a challenge he can handle, saying, "I'm taking on the challenge and feel strong enough to assert myself in Münster as well."
Frenkert became a convincing vice-champion in the Regionalliga West with Bocholt - a title he's proud of. "I was very excited about the Preußen season last year. The boys played an outstanding series, especially after the winter break, they showed incredible consistency," says Frenkert. Despite being connected to Münster, he's looking forward to playing for the "Zebras," and hopes to make an impact on the field.
Although he's moved on to Münster, he still cherishes his time with Preußen. "I played with almost all of them the year before and met some of them regularly for a coffee in the city." He's remained in Münster, commuting daily to Bocholt during the season, even though it was "never an easy task."
Frenkert may have moved on to Münster, but his connection to Preußen remains strong. "I played with almost all of them the year before and met some of them regularly for a coffee in the city," he says. He feels a sense of belonging to his former team. It's clear that he's ready to prove himself on the field in the coming season for the team that shaped him as a player. Just like he did in Bocholt.
Interestingly, Alexander "Ali" Hahn, another former Preußen player, has found a new home with MSV Duisburg. The third-league team saw him as an important addition, planning for a possible direct promotion. He played 20 games and scored one goal for Münster in the previous season, making him an experienced addition to Hirsch's team. Hahn has had quite a career, already playing at eight professional stations. The "Zebras" will look to him as the pillar of their defense.
