I encountered derision during a Stones show.

In the fourth installment of "Sing meinen Song-Das Tauschkonzert," iconic musician Peter Maffay (74) made a guest appearance. Enthusiastic about hearing renditions of his songs, he also shared his thoughts. Tim Bendzko (39) finds one of the covers less suitable for family viewing.

Peter Maffay at "Interpret My Song" - I encountered derision during a Stones show.

Peter Maffay is a music legend for everyone in attendance at the swap concert. R&B vocalist Joy Denalane (50) gushes, "He's simply extraordinary." Lead singer of "Broilers," Sammy Amara (45), echoes sentimentally, "He was a constant presence in our lives growing up in Germany."

The crowd listens intently as Maffay shares his captivating anecdotes. The renowned musician narrates his journey from quitting his apprenticeship early to going on tour, setbacks and all.

Recollecting the first time he and his band opened for the Rolling Stones in the early '80s, Maffay recalls, "Cans of Coke were hurled on stage, and we were met with boos." This humbling experience still fills him with gratitude for his current accomplishments in the music industry.

Each artist in attendance must perform their interpretation of the original. Tim Bendzko has selected "Tiefer," one of Maffay's early ballads, and humorously recounts his own experiences with it. As a child, Bendzko enjoyed singing the song, ignorant of its actual meaning. "It's about sex," he boldly declares today.

The audience laughs as Bendzko smiles at Maffay, teasingly asking,"Is that right? If I'm mistaken, feel free to correct me. But I believe it's a very sensual song." Maffay acknowledges the suggestive meaning while adding a touch of romance,"It's about love, of course, and the intimate act of making love. It's a wonderful feeling when you let go of all defenses and give yourself fully to someone."

Maffay and Oerding (r.) met on two wheels

The crowd eagerly anticipates Bendzko's rendition. The singer-songwriter sheepishly admits, "I've really dug myself into a hole. There were probably 400 other songs I could've chosen."

Bendzko's rendition delights the audience from his first note. Maffay finds himself equally delighted. Show host Johannes Oerding (42) can't help but chuckle, "We'll be thinking of certain things every time we hear this song from now on, for sure."

Feeling a bit raunchy from the conversation, Oerding can't help but laugh.
