Klopp discusses Liverpool departure - I cried when I read a letter that came to me.
Jürgen Klopp will be at the Liverpool bench for the last time as they take on Wolverhampton in the Premier League on Sunday, 5:30 pm, televised on Sky Sports. He shared his final thoughts with journalists before the match.
Klopp, who has managed Liverpool for 488 games, gets emotional: "I'm head over heels in love with this place. The connections I've made here will last a lifetime. I've been here for almost a decade, wow. That's a long time and I won't forget a single day of it."
He then tells a heartwarming story about the impact Liverpool's football has had on people's lives. For the club's own channel LFC TV, Klopp read out letters sent by fans to their beloved coach.
Klopp: "I was in tears after reading one letter. It's incredible to see how our soccer has changed lives. It fills me with joy knowing soccer can have this impact."
He added: "I want to apologize one more time; I can't read every letter or reply to every email, not even organize tickets for the last match for everyone who asked."
Klopp has led Liverpool to win prestigious titles like the Champions League (2019), Premier League (2020), and FA Cup (2022). However, the title that stood out most to him was the League Cup.
Klopp: "That game had everything that makes this club unique. Our academy's young players played a significant role in the final. They deserved recognition for their hard work."
In other words, during the match against Chelsea, six young players from Liverpool's academy were on the pitch for a while.
Klopp walks away from Liverpool after nearly nine years, cherishing these memorable moments.
Klopp: "To say goodbye without experiencing the pain of saying goodbye means it wasn't really a goodbye."
