Actor Daniel Bruhl showcased himself at the cinema wearing a casual T-shirt and an open, dark blue jacket on a special runway.
He shared, "This was 20 years ago when we met at a photoshoot. A few days ago, I received a photo that Karl took of me. I never found it before because he had all the rights to the photos." The picture moved Bruhl as it showed a young man, full of dreams, who never expected to play Karl's character 20 years later.
Taking on the complex role of Karl Lagerfeld was no cakewalk. Bruhl revealed, "It required a lot of preparation, which made it enjoyable. However, there was the fear of being caught when attempting such a big role. That's truly exhilarating." His tireless efforts to understand the man behind the magnanimous persona continued till the final day.
Karl's performance in the Paris premiere elicited thunderous applause, making Bruhl proud. He admits feeling satisfied as well, despite his typically critical nature. "Though I'm always hard on myself, I'm glad the French crowd gave me a standing ovation."
While filming in Paris, Bruhl couldn't help but imagine what Karl would be up to now. Therefore, he visited Saint-Germain-des-Prés, the district crucial to Lagerfeld. "I tried to see Paris through the eyes of Karl," Bruhl said.
The 41-year-old is married to Felicitas (35) and has two children with him. Their third child is expected to join the family soon. "I'm incredibly happy that our family is expanding, and I'm eagerly anticipating the arrival of our new member," he concluded.
