Horseshoe Lake Charles to Introduce Gordon Ramsay Steak in Louisiana
The Horseshoe Lake Charles Hotel & Casino in Louisiana needs some help. Operated by Caesars Entertainment, the riverboat-turned-land-based resort is trying to boost its business with the help of a celebrity chef. Gordon Ramsay, known for his kitchen prowess and explosive demeanor, will be taking over as the new face of Horseshoe Lake Charles.
The casino opened in December 2022 in Westlake, a city just north of Lake Charles. It was previously known as the Isle of Capri, owned and operated by Eldorado Resorts, but was shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic and later closed for over two years after Hurricane Laura struck the area. Caesars Entertainment decided to rebrand the Isle of Capri to Horseshoe and move the casino floor inland as part of their $17.8 billion merger with Eldorado Resorts, completed in July 2020.
The new Horseshoe Lake Charles boasts 252 refreshed hotel rooms and a massive 62,000-square-foot casino floor featuring 800 slot machines, 40 table games, a Caesars Sportsbook, and a World Series of Poker room.
Steak Surprise
Despite equal conveniences with its competitors, the Golden Nugget and Lake Auberge, Horseshoe Lake Charles has not generated the gross gaming revenue the company had expected. Over the past six months, the casino has generated only about $9 million a month, while the Golden Nugget and L'Auberge average approximately $27.4 million and $27.5 million a month, respectively.
To attract more visitors, Caesars plans to open Gordon Ramsay Steak next month. The 200-seat restaurant, which overlooks the lake, will be open for dinner from 4:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday, and from 4:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
Ramsay, thrilled about his first restaurant in Louisiana, said, "I'm so excited about my first restaurant in Louisiana! I'm so happy to be bringing my amazing aged cuts of beef, along with our stunning beef wellington, and of course, that lovely sticky toffee pudding to Lake Charles."
Horseshoe Lake Charles is set to open their Gordon Ramsay Steak next month. The restaurant will add to Ramsay's already impressive portfolio, which includes over two dozen establishments across the US. Many of his restaurants can be found inside Caesars properties, and he also has a Hell's Kitchen at Foxwoods in Connecticut.
'MasterChef' Mates
Lake Charles is about to see another familiar face from the Fox reality television series, "MasterChef."
Ramsay, who has appeared on all 13 seasons of the US show, will join Aarón Sánchez, executive chef and co-owner of the Johnny Sánchez restaurant chain. Sánchez has been a "MasterChef" judge since season eight and has a Johnny Sánchez restaurant at the L'Auberge.
