Crucial figure returns - Hope for Unity in the struggle against demotion
Fans of Union are convinced that their club can stay in the league, despite the potential for immediate relegation.
Recently, around 50 supporters got the chance to watch the team's final training session before the decisive match against Freiburg (3:30pm, airing on Sky). They eagerly cheered and sang their support for the players during the session, which lasted about 30 minutes.
This week, Robin Knoche (31) is likely to keep his spot as starting center-back, even with the return of the new defensive coach. Although he's been out since a February 24 match against Hoffenheim, Knoche had a strong performance in his first game as a starter after his return. He even managed to score his first goal of the season. There's a possibility that he might replace Diogo Leite (25) who's made too many errors in recent weeks.
Knoche's past performance and the return of head coach Vogt could be crucial in this upcoming game.
At present, Union has just one point and is comfortably placed in 16th position. If Cologne wins, the team could potentially fall to 17th if Union loses. In order to stay safe, Union needs to win AND hope that Mainz loses in Wolfsburg at the same time.
