Following a prolonged hiatus of over two years, the immensely popular romantic history show "Bridgerton" is set to make its grand return in May. This time, the story revolves around Lady Whistledown embarking on her own quest for love. Meanwhile, ARD has unveiled what's potentially the most captivating German series release of the year.

A curated list of the most anticipated series reboots and new seasons to grace our screens in May:

"A Whole Guy": On Netflix from May 2

Approximately a year after the conclusion of the hit business series "Succession", Netflix is readying a potential successor titled "A Whole Guy". This new series is the brainchild of David E. Kelley, a prolific creator associated with masterpieces like "Big Little Lies" and "The Undoing". Here, Jeff Daniels, a two-time Emmy winner, steps into the shoes of a struggling Atlanta real-estate mogul named Charlie Croker. The business entrepreneur finds himself on shaky grounds after a sudden bankruptcy, resulting in him becoming the target of all manners of attacks.

"A Whole Guy", a riveting six-part mini-series, boasts of an impressive star-studded cast. Alongside the legendary Jeff Daniels, there's Lucy Liu ("Kill Bill", "3 Angels for Charlie"), Tom Pelphrey ("Ozark"), character actor Bill Camp ("The Queen's Gambit"), and a celebrated cinematic icon, Diane Lane, who plays the alarming ex-wife of Charlie Croker. Three of the six episodes in the conclave have been directed by one of the most sought-after filmmakers in the industry, Regina King, and Oscar-winner.

"The Doubters": From May 3 in ARD's show library

set to launch on May 3 in the ARD media library, "The Doubters" has created quite a buzz with its fascinating portrayal of the Jewish-German Zweifler family. An episode of this engaging tale has fetched the prestigious "Best Series" award at Cannes Festival.

The series chronicles a century-old delicatessen in Frankfurt's Bahnhofsviertel that the Zweifler family has been operating for decades. Struggling family head Symcha Zweifler (Mike Burstyn, 78), who survived the Holocaust as a child, is intent on selling the business, a decision that got his relatives up in arms. As the head of the family deals with his changing fortunes, his grandson and alleged heir, Samuel (Aaron Altaras, 28), begins a heated romantic relationship with chef Saba (Saffron Coomber, 29). When their imminent child closes in, Samuel finds himself embroiled in a dilemma, torn between his Jewish roots and the promise of life elsewhere.

The creator of "The Doubters", David Hadda, has gathered an eclectic array of renowned actors for this unforgettable family saga. Sunnyi Melles and Mike Burstyn, who star in roles pivotal to the plot, have been widely acclaimed.

"Bridgerton": On Netflix from May 16

The romantic history series "Bridgerton" has captured the hearts of million viewers worldwide due to its enormous popularity on Netflix. Seasons 1 and 2 have not only broken into the top 10 most-watched English series ever on Netflix but have also earned themselves a spot in the platform's hall of fame. The highly anticipated third season, the product of Shonda Rhimes' production company, finally premieres on May 16.

The third season of "Bridgerton", the first to deviate from the structure of Julia Quinn's novels, covers "Penelope's Spicy Secret". The story centers around the romantic feelings of Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan, 37) for Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton, 31).

Although Colin Bridgerton returns in the new season as a changed man after his extensive European escapade, Penelope Featherington's search for love seems to be fraught with mishaps at first. Penelope's lifelong infatuation with Colin Bridgerton leads him to guide her in the art of graceful flirting, sparking an emotional connection between them. Who knows what the future holds for these lovable characters?

The upcoming season of the hit show "Bridgerton" welcomes back several fan-favorites including Queen Charlotte (Golda Rosheuvel, 53), Lady Danbury (Adjoa Andoh, 61), and the duo from last season, Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey, 35) and his wife Kate (Simone Ashley, 29). We're thrilled to introduce a new addition, Francesca Bridgerton, played by Hannah Dodd (28). However, we're sad to say that Phoebe Dynevor (29), known for her portrayal of Daphne Bridgerton, won't be returning for the third installment.

"Bridgerton" is back for its third season, but this time it's divided into two parts. The first four episodes will be available on Netflix starting May 16th, with the last four episodes to follow on June 13th, wrapping up the latest addition to the show.
