Moves, strategies, victories - Highlights of Hoeneß's extraordinary campaign.

Along with CEO Alexander Wehrle (49) and sports director Fabian Wohlgemuth (45), Hoeneß (41) is acknowledged as the driving force behind Stuttgart's outstanding season. This coach delivered VfB's return to the Champions League for the first time in 15 years.

Hoeneß had foreseen Nübel's success in the team when he informed him that this season would propel VfB to surprising heights. Soon after, another significant player, Angelo Stiller (23), joined the squad.

► August 19, 2023: In a stunning start to the season, Stuttgart humiliated Bochum 5:0 at home in their opening match. The irresistible Guirassy (28) netted a double, while Führich (26) crafted two goals.

Under Hoeneß's guidance, both players emerged as top-notch performers. Only two weeks into the season, VfB delivered a resounding 5:0 drubbing to SC Freiburg.

► March 8, 2024: Hoeneß renewed his contract with VfB early, extending it by two years until 2027. Expressing his passion for the club, Hoeneß said, "VfB is extremely significant to me. I still recall being a child and watching matches at this stadium. VfB embodies strong emotions - a truly unique experience."

► April 6, 2024: VfB toppled Dortmund 1:0, seizing a critical step toward the Champions League. Hoeneß's tactical move of transferring Stiller to central defense was a resounding success.

This win made it the Stuttgart team's third triumph over DLTA (Deutsche Liga Total Fußball Association)'s Champions League finalists this season. Hoeneß's squad had already thrashed Dortmund in November (2:1/Bundesliga) and December (2:0/DFB Cup).

► May 4, 2024: VfB secured a groundbreaking 3:1 win over FC Bayern, the first home victory in 17 years. After the triumph, Hoeneß honored the fans by joining them on the fence in the Cannstatter Kurve. Hoeneß addressed the crowd via microphone: "I'd like to express my gratitude to you on behalf of the team for what we've accomplished. This is beyond words."

Hoeneß transformed a relegation-threatened squad into a Champions League-bound team.
