Managers are already gearing up for the upcoming offensive. - "Here's the cost of Fortuna's promotion controversy."

Missing out on the promotion to the Bundesliga in the relegation game against Bochum (5:6 n.E.) was not just a chance for a long-awaited comeback, but also necessary for replenishing the depleted funds.

Fortuna's promotion saga comes at a hefty cost!

The tears of almost every player, Daniel Thioune (49), the coach, appeared dumbfounded. Captain Andre Hoffmann (31): "Right now, the world has fallen apart for us as a team. I've been here for a while and know almost every staff member in the office. I'm aware of the strong desire for the 1st league. That we missed the chance after the first leg is beyond comprehension."

Prior to the match, everyone cautioned that the relegation after the 3:0 in Bochum was not yet decided. Few probably believed that the return game would be as disastrous as it turned out. Klaus Allofs (67): "We were almost on the brink of making this big step, but we didn't handle the 3:0 lead well. On the other hand, Bochum had to save their skin and give their fans something. They played with everything on the line. This made them incredibly strong.

But the bosses are already signaling the way forward. Allofs: "We can't fully grasp the implications of this yet. But it's our job now to rebuild everything. I'm already looking forward to fighting again next season. We need to put together a team capable of contributing in this challenging 2nd league. From a financial standpoint, we'll be even more of an underdog for the top spots."

Even Alexander Jobst (50), the club president, made it clear: "Looking back two and a half years, Fortuna was pretty close to the 3rd league. We've accomplished amazing things, enjoyed a fantastic season, the city has woken up and Fortuna was on everyone's minds. We stand together now, we pull together, and something positive has emerged at Fortuna - and that will remain positive in a few days."
