Artificial coma reoccurs. - Heinz Hoenig's condition is deteriorating.
A severely ill actor has recently had surgery on his esophagus but the next piece of bad news is on its way. According to his wife Annika, Hoenig is not in a good state as she confirmed this to RTL.
Things went from bad to worse as he had to be put back into an artificial coma and connected to a ventilator for two days.
"He was on the road to recovery, close to being able to get out of bed," shares Annika Kersten-Hoenig. Furthermore, she reveals, "The issue with Heinz is, if someone lies there for so long, many muscles are lost, and the large breathing muscle eventually collapses. That's why my husband was struggling to cough." This is why the doctors decided to re-intubate the actor.
Ever since Wednesday, the medical team has been gradually waking up Heinz Hoenig. Most of the time, the former jungle camper sleeps. His body is extremely weak. Therefore, the life-saving operation on the aorta must be postponed. The operation would currently be too risky.
Wife Annika is hopeful that his vital signs will soon stabilize and he can undergo the much-needed operation. Until then, it's still a long road ahead as the star needs to be able to breathe on his own before any talk of the risky operation can commence.
The Hoenig family has been going through a living nightmare for weeks now. Hoenig not only has a severe illness but is also facing financial troubles as he has no health insurance. However, the support from fans and colleagues is immense: On the website set up for him, €170,000 has been raised already. The fundraising goal has been increased to €500,000.
