The local government warns of potential inaccessible areas and spots submerged in water, as well as potential landslides, amid the ongoing storm. In Saarland, various buildings had to be vacated, and multiple roads were closed.
The city government is offering shelter to displaced individuals in specific locations. These places include: the Wiedheckschule Brebach, the Grundschule am Hasenberg, the Montessori-Grundschule Rußhütte, and the Schule am Ludwigsberg. Each of these facilities is currently open, with staff on-site and ready to accommodate those in need.
Hazardous terrain for pedestrians
The ongoing heavy rains have resulted in Saarbrücken Zoo being shut down indefinitely, as well as the closure of the Burbach forest pond from now until Whit Monday. This is because the pond's banks have been breached, making it hazardous for pedestrians to walk in the area.
In Eschringen, the Simbach children's playground has been temporarily closed, as well as the Wiesental playground in Dudweiler due to their proximity to the forest pond.
