A historic win occurred in 2011. - He was the inaugural German champion.

This young guy has written his name into German poker history!

It's almost that time again for one of the biggest poker events, with the 55th World Series of Poker (WSOP) in Las Vegas quickly approaching. The competition runs from May 28th to July 17th, and naturally, the Main Event (July 3rd to 17th) is what everyone's eyes are on.

The 22-year-old economics student from Cologne managed to come out on top at the final table after a massive six-hour showdown against Czech player Martin Staszko. His aggressive play was key, with numerous bluffs thrown in.

Prior to his recent triumph, Heinz had been kicking ass at online poker for quite some time, achieving another significant milestone by reaching the final table which was an accomplishment only previously managed by Henry Nowakowski in 2001.

Und geschafft! Heinz feiert seinen historischen Triumph

Interesting sidenote: Heinz was in a relationship with poker player and TV presenter Natalie Hof for a while, but they're no longer together. He still plays poker, but he's not part of the world elite anymore. He's mainly focused on investing his earnings, possibly in stocks, for his offspring.
