"The Lord of the Rings" revives. - He, out of everyone, is now receiving his own film.
"The Lord of the Rings is an old tale, yet it feels fresh. The first story set in the world of Middle-earth came out in 1937 with 'The Hobbit' written by J.R.R. Tolkien. However, the brand is more up-to-date than ever. The first season of a recent series on Amazon was a big hit, and new movies are coming to theaters soon.
Famous around the globe, the Lord of the Rings trilogy swept through cinemas over 20 years ago (earning over three billion dollars in box office sales) and made New Zealand a popular tourist destination. In between, the Hobbit films were added, and now the return to the big screen is expected in 2026.
The movies may include 'Lord Of The Rings: The Hunt For Gollum'. The Hollywood Reporter says that the film studio Warner is currently working on this project. And Andy Serkis, who played Gollum in the original movies, will be playing the role again.
His performances as Gollum, back in 2001, astounded audiences as he was a living actor who was animated on a computer for the very first time. Serkis' work earned him a reputation as a top Hollywood actor.
He's even directing the new film, with Peter Jackson, the wizard from Middle-earth, as a producer.
Some might question the idea of a whole story with Gollum. A German studio, Daedalic, released a Gollum video game in 2023 that was a disaster. The game was widely criticized as the worst of the year and the studio shut down.
Failures can be avoided if the upcoming cinematic release goes well, though. After the planned cinema release in 2026, more projects are in the works within the Lord of the Rings universe."
