Sports club acquires Soares from Bochum. - He had considered quitting on two occasions.
Over a span of seven years and 189 games, the southpaw was no longer content at Bochum. He didn't take part in a single match this year and isn't suitable for the forthcoming Bundesliga relegation clash against Fortuna Düsseldorf (today and Sunday).
Soares: "At the age of 16, I tumbled into a profound emotional abyss, refusing to leave my home, shunning studies. That's when the doctor diagnosed me with depression. He prescribed me medicine and rest. I suspended soccer for half a year and contemplated quitting."
However, his current spouse put a stop to this plan. Just like during his Ingolstadt stint (2013-2016), when Soares missed almost an entire season due to a toe injury: "Up until I underwent a second procedure in Brazil, I was uncertain for a lengthy period whether I could play again. Then my spouse said to me: After all you've accomplished for soccer, you can't throw in the towel now!"
Now, following the hardship experienced in Bochum, he wants to prove it to himself anew - at the club!
