In North Rhine-Westphalia, - Haribo intends to construct a new 300 million plant.

The confectionery company Haribo is planning to build a new factory in Neuss, North Rhine-Westphalia, worth around 300 million euros. According to Haribo and city officials, this new facility will be used to manufacture Maoam chewy candies. The company has set its sights on a 14-hectare plot of land, which is roughly the size of 20 football fields, in the Neuss-Holzheim industrial area.

Possible Timeline for the New HARIBO Factory

The construction of the new factory could begin as early as 2025, with production commencing in 2028. Haribo's existing factory in Neuss has been the site of Maoam chewy candy production until now. However, with the current facility being significantly smaller than the new one and unable to meet the increasing demand for Maoam, it is expected to be closed down after a transitional period of parallel operations.

During this transitional period, both factories will operate simultaneously. Once the new factory becomes fully operational, the older one will be shut down. The new location is expected to have a production capacity nearly twice that of the existing one.

Haribo currently employs around 350 workers in Neuss. This number is expected to increase by 100 additional employees when the new factory comes online. In addition to producing Maoam candies, the new facility will also manufacture fruit gums in the future.
