Growth Persists in Substitution - Hanover experiences their first Köhn defeat.
Back in February, Derrick Köhn (25) transitioned from Hannover 96 to Galatasaray Istanbul. Just after joining, he was instantly put in the starting lineup, playing 13 games. Now, Köhn has finally achieved his first championship title.
Köhn Bags the Championship!
During the final day of the Super Lig, Galatasaray was just one point behind the current leader, Fenerbahce (three points less), in the intense clash against them. During this match, Köhn's team managed to win 3-1 against Konyaspor, sealing the record-breaking championship.
33 wins, only 3 draws and 2 losses, and a whopping 102 points accumulated - an overwhelming winning streak. And even Hannover 96 is joining in the celebrations.
Boosting Income for 96!
In his contract transfer with Gala, 96's sports director Marcus Mann (40) managed to negotiate bonus payments. On top of the 3.5 million euro release clause, there are extra bonuses based on Köhn's games and titles. Ultimately, Hannover's revenue shoots up to 4 million euros.
Despite finishing first with the most points, Galatasaray faced immense pressure leading up to the last matchday. The 0:1 loss in the recent derby against Fenerbahce left them in a nervous position, and the title defense was in jeopardy just when Köhn's former team, Hannover, put in a late push.
And so, after a long journey, Köhn claimed his first title and left Hannover dealing with the aftermath.
