Playing Basketball - Hamburg Towers celebrate triumph over Crailsheim.
In a major win for Veolia Towers Hamburg, they secured their position in the play-in games of the German Basketball League by defeating the relegation-threatened Merlins Crailsheim 94-88 (46-36) in front of 2,720 spectators at Inselpark Arena. By scoring this victory, the team headed by Coach Benka Barloschky reinforced their tenth-place standing in the league with their 15th success three matchdays prior to the conclusion of the main round. The game's top-scoring player was Aljami Durham, who racked up 19 points.
Initially, the Towers struggled due to the absence of injured centers Jonas Wolfarth-Bottermann and Aleksander Dziewa, causing difficulties in rebounding. Crailsheim took advantage of this and gained a 24-16 lead by the end of the first quarter. However, Towers improved as the game progressed, taking a 46-36 lead into halftime, aided by four successful three-pointers.
The second turnaround happened following the break, with Crailsheim increasing their three-point success rate and reducing the Towers' lead to 52-53 at one point. They even managed to secure a brief lead during Crailsheim's scoring spree. But, in the last quarter, Barloschky's team regained composure and managed to win the match.
