A possible BVB forward transfer could occur in the summer. - Haller on the Verge of Escaping Turkey?
It's uncertain if Dortmund fans will witness Sébastien Haller (29) playing for the club again at Signal Iduna Park when they face Darmstadt this weekend. His contract speaks for another four years but indications suggest otherwise...
The striker's market value has dramatically dropped from €45 million (Sep. 2019) to €14 million now. Niclas Füllkrug (31), who has scored 16 goals and made 10 assists so far, currently occupies the centre-forward spot.
Besiktas Istanbul has shown interest in Haller previously, during the winter transfer window. Now, they're rumoured to be preparing another attempt at signing the French-born player.
Haller earns almost €10 million annually, making him one of Terzic's highest-paid players. His transfer fee was €31 million when he joined BVB from Ajax Amsterdam in 2022.
BVB might accept a much lower fee for his departure – around 10 million euros – if the Turks make a serious offer. This would be a significant drop from both his market value and the initial acquisition fee.
Haller's tenure at Dortmund has been tumultuous; soon after his signing, he was diagnosed with cancer, and he famously missed a "master penalty" against Mainz (2:2). However, he redeemed himself by scoring the winner in a 2:1 loss at Atlético Madrid, which propelled Dortmund to the Champions League final. Let's see what the future holds for Haller at Wembley.
